~MIND~
Book:Virginia, A. (1964). Dibs: in search of self. NY: Harmondsworth, Middlesex: Penguin Books Ltd.

Summery
This book is about a play therapy for a boy whose name is Dibs and this story is true story. Dibs is a boy who did not have himself and he could not talk with people and could not express himself to other people correctly, so he could just cried or screamed when he felt uncomfortable. The author of this book, who was a therapist, gave him play therapy. He let Dibs in a therapy room and let him play as Dibs want. In that time, he looked Dibs’ playing and repeated what Dibs said. In other word, author just admitted his playing. As he played some play therapy, he was becoming to being able to communicate with people. We can see this progress in the inside play therapies. Then, finally he confirmed himself inside his mind. He opened his mind to other people.

Comment
Everyone needs the place to be able to show him, and we need to be admitted by someone. Dibs did not have that, and he locked his mind. The author became the place where Dibs can show himself. Through this experience, he made himself inside his mind. In this true story, his IQ was 168 when after finishing playing therapy author checked. Even such a gifted boy, he could just scream or cry when he do not have the place. This story gives suggestions for us as well as therapists. Every single person needs the place to show him and to be understood. We made our identity there. The place might be parents, friend and friends. In this age, we too much consider the other people’s evaluation or judgment, so we sometimes feel alone or loneliness. In that time, we maybe have to back our place. Through that, we do “the search of ourselves”.

英語(英文)ブックレポートの書き方例3 The greatest coach ever

Book Report 1
Book1: Tony, D. David, R. Tom, O and Other. (2001). The greatest coach ever. CA: Regal From Gospel Light.

Summary
This book was written about John Wooden, who was a head coach of UCLA basketball team, and 40 people who lead very various fields and know John Wooden well, wrote about him from their own visions. He was awarded “Best Coach Ever” in 2009. He won 10 times NCAA Division1 championships including 7 years in a row, and both of them are records. His coaching philosophy is based on the Bible. He lead his team not only teaching skills of basketball but also his character. Team brought up by his gentle coaching based on Bible not screaming or being mad. This kind of coaching affected a pastor, the president of a company, coaches of other sports, coaches of other teams and so on as well as players. Therefore they use his principle of life, for example how to decide our life, and his coaching mind is still alive through them, although he stopped to coach on a basketball court.

Comments
It is very hard to be a great coach if a coach just has knowledge, although knowledge is one of the most important things. For example, the basketball coach who know it very well, but do not have a philosophy of life never success. The coach having great and strong philosophy gets respect. If a coach just tries to lead players by the techniques, and a team wins, it is just temporally win. A coach should also teach and show what life is. Coaches must be a good person before to be a good coach. We feel sometimes hard to make up who we are and decide how to live. In other word, to make our philosophy of life is quite difficult. John Wooden put it on the Bible by his faith. Therefore he could lead the players by solid coaching and get great prize.

英語(英文)ブックレポートの書き方例2 Miracle on 49th street

Book Report 2
Book2: Lupica, M. (2006). Miracle on 49th street. NY: Penguin Young Readers Group.

Summary
This book is a fiction novel, a field of leisure. This story is about a basketball star, Josh Cameron and his daughter, Molly. Josh Cameron had not recognized he had family before Molly, 12, came to him. She was a daughter between him and his ex-girlfriend in college, who dead by cancer. Her mother kept a secret to Molly about her father, Josh, just before her dying. After that, Molly met to his father, Josh, by relying on her mother’s friend, but he did not deal with her. Then, she understood why her mother had not told truth before. The reason is “just basketball and himself are there in his mind”. She was very sad once, but she tried Josh to be “a real father”. And, finally she changed his mind and he decided to be a real father of her. At last, he recognized how important family is and little 12 years girl change his life priority.

Comments
I moved by Molly’s humanity a lot, even she was a little girl. 12 years old girl wanted her father to be a real her father seriously, and she committed to the purpose as a daughter. I loved her frankly and pure attitude above all. On the other hand, I understood Josh attitude to think just himself and basketball because super star have to do effort very much and stand kind of loneliness, but even a super star he had to be a person before a star. I guessed that author’s message. He was not a good person; however he is a great basketball player. In other words, he lacked something. This is more of a miracle story which NBA super star found comfortable place (12 years girl) where every person need than a miracle story that Molly, who lost her mother be adapted by Josh.

英語(英文)ブックレポート 書き方の例1The innner game of tennis

Book Report 1
Book1: Gallwey, Timothy. W. (2008). The innner game of tennis. NY: Random House.

Summary
This book is written for tennis players and teaches them how to learn tennis faster. Tennis is a sport which is a good leisure, so I chose this book as one of the book about leisure. This book describes how important quite mind is. There are “Self 1” and “Self 2” in this book inside us by author’s definitions. “Self 1” is a doer (player) and “Self 2” is a thinker which analyze how we have played. In other words, “Self 1” is part of unconscious and “Self 2” is one of conscious. Most of players use Self 2 too much and that decreases the speed of our acquisition. For example, saying “That is a good shot” or “Man, I have to play harder” inside your mind is not good for us. In contrast, the best mind condition, which is called “Zone”, is happened when “Self 2” is totally quiet. In addition, this book gives us advices how to quiet our Self 2 and how we should instruct players to get better by quieting “Self 2”

Comments
After reading this book, I understood why the practices which I had done in US brought me up a lot. From my experiences, in Japan coaches makes some routines by depending on player’s cautions. For example, to improve dribble skill for basketball, coaches say “watch your front with your dribble”. In contrast, the coach in us, who trained me require some drills which I do not have to think anything. For example, for the dribble drills, I have to head up and watching my front to do these drills. Therefore, without thinking I acquire the dribble with head up. I improved a lot, but I did not think too much in practice and just practiced the drill which coach gave me when I had been in US. In other words, my “Self 2” was totally quiet and I dramatically improved. Now I am sure that it helps me to get better. Through this experience, I understand this book’s contents not only on the book field but also on the basketball court.

英語(英文)レポートの書き方例6(700語) We Should Give Human Right for Some Robot

We Should Give Human Right for Some Robot
We made a lot of robot until now. For example, Runba is for cleaning, Aibo is a dog robot to be communicable with people, and Ashimo is Human Robot walking by two feet. In the future, we may keep making many kind of robot. We can have many image of the many kind of robot in the future. Maybe some of you imagine some Robot which makes us happy, like Doraemon (Fujiko, 1974) or Ararechan (Toriyama, 1980). Others may imagine some robot for war or protect people. Now, we can divide the type of robot. One is the robot which has totally same or surpass emotions and intelligence with humans, and the other is not. If we make such a kind of former Robot, should we give human right for the robot? Some people say “NO” because of afraid to come up against the robot like “Terminator” (Gale & James, 1984). But I am against this opinion and insist that people should give human rights for the robot because the robot can duties, the robot has a parent, and it is also for human if the robot have same intelligence and feelings with human.
People have many duties and do these, and we have human rights, so if the robot having totally same or surpass emotions and intelligence with humans also can do that, the robot must have human rights. We need to do a lot of thing to live, and a governments and societies require these. For example, we have to pay much tax, to work after certain ages and to make our children to study. In addition, we have to obey many laws to have a punishment. Over such a many things, we can get our human rights. Therefore, it is normal for the robot to get human right if robot can do all duties.
The robot is made by human, so in other words, the human is a parent of that robot. Therefore, we have to protect robot to protect the creator. Most creators have big pride to the object. Especially creators who made a robot who has feeling do not want the robot to be wounded. According to Christensen from Georgia Tech University (Salamander, 2009), he insist it is hard to understand that we must not kick the real dog, but it is all right to kick robot one. I exactly agree his opinion and all the more about the robot who have a feeling and a creator.
To give the right is also for general human because without rules we might sometimes confuse how we should treat or communicate with the robot. Ethic and morals have individual differences. This topic is really depends on these. Without rule, we can expect many kind of attitude, so we should make some rule. Christensen (Salamander, 2009) said that some people cannot decide what is right or not to robot, so we have make rule for them. He also said that we have to make sure what is right or wrong to robots, and for it we need rules. Making rules about robot is for humans as well as the robots.
In conclusion, we have to give human rights for the robot who have same or surpass intelligence and feelings with human. We made many kind of robot until now, and we also have images of future robots in the comic or movie. Some images for robot are good like Doraemon or Ararechan, but others are not like Terminator. We can divide the type of robots. Some are the robots which has totally same or surpass emotions and intelligence with humans, and the others are not. Some people are against giving human right for such a kind of robot because they afraid that the robots go against people. But I am against that opinion because of three reasons: first reason is such a kind of robots can do the duties which people should do. Second, to protect the robot is to protect the dignity of creator. Third, without rules, some people do not know how we should treat the robot. For these reasons, I insist the robot should have human rights if the robots have same or surpass human intelligence and human’s feelings. (704)
